We now know what next movie Michael B. Jordan will be putting his director’s hat on for.
Per Variety, Michael B. Jordan will sit in the director’s chair and star in the Thomas Crown Affair remake at Amazon MGM Studios. According to the website, news of Jordan’s involvement goes back to 2016.
Jordan will also produce the movie alongside Elizabeth Raposo under his Outlier Society banner, and it will be released theatrically.
The film will use a script written by Drew Pearce, which replaces a previous draft written by Wes Tooke and Justin Britt-Gibson based on the 1968 film starring Steve McQueen.
Patrick McCormick and Marc Toberoff will join Jordan and Raposo as directors. Alan Trustman, the writer of the original 1968 film, will serve as an executive producer on the project.
Jordan’s take on the film will be the third version of the classic romantic heist story, following the 1999 remake starring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo.
With Thomas Crown Affair, Jordan’s relationship with Amazon MGM Studios continues to grow after his Outlier Society company secured a first-look film deal and overall television deal with the studio.
Under the deal, Jordan directed, produced, and starred in Creed III alongside Jonathan Majors. The film was a hit, opening to a record $58.6 million domestically and earning $276 million worldwide.
You can expect to see more of Jordan when he reprises the role of John Clark in Rainbow Six, the follow-up to Without Remorse, and the long-awaited sequel to I Am Legend starring Will Smith.
He will also reunite with longtime collaborator Ryan Coogler (Fruitvale Station, Creed, Black Panther) in an upcoming vampire flick that has wrapped filming and is slated for a March 7, 2025, release.
